Some events end when the last guest leaves. Others continue in boardrooms, family meetings and business decisions long after the lights go out.
That was the goal of the fourth IFC Family Governance Workshop in Accra. The event brought together family business owners, governance experts and business leaders to have honest conversations about one of the biggest questions many businesses eventually face: Who takes over next?

For the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the workshop was about helping family businesses prepare for the future through better governance, clear succession plans and stronger leadership structures. For Yadaba Communications, it was about making sure those important conversations reached the people who needed to hear them.
Family governance and succession planning are not topics that naturally attract headlines. They often involve technical terms, legal processes and difficult family discussions.
Our role was to help translate those ideas into stories that were easy to understand without losing their importance.

Working alongside the event team, Yadaba Communications supported the communications strategy before, during and after the workshop. From developing media content to shaping key messages and coordinating publicity, every effort focused on one objective: helping more business owners understand why governance matters long before a leadership transition becomes urgent.
Rather than simply reporting that a workshop had taken place, we worked to highlight the real issues being discussed—how businesses can survive beyond their founders, prepare the next generation and protect the legacy families have spent years building.

The workshop featured thoughtful contributions from IFC leaders, including Senior Country Manager for Ghana and Liberia, Kyle Kelhofer, Senior Country Officer Yewande Giwa, and IFC ESG Advisory Lead for Africa, Moez Miaoui.
Each speaker shared practical lessons on governance, leadership transition and sustainable business growth. Our responsibility was to ensure those insights were presented clearly, accurately and in language that resonated with business owners, journalists and the wider public.
Strong communication is not about adding more words. It is about making the right message easier to understand.
Beyond Event Coverage
Successful communications do more than document an event. They extend its life.
By developing clear media materials, supporting engagement with journalists and helping shape consistent messaging, Yadaba Communications contributed to a conversation that continued beyond the workshop itself.

Business owners who were not in the room could still learn why family constitutions, advisory boards, succession planning and governance structures matter. The workshop became more than a one-day event—it became part of a broader discussion on building businesses that can thrive across generations.
One clear lesson emerged from the workshop: preparing for tomorrow should begin today.
When governance structures are put in place early and communication is intentional, families are better equipped to navigate change while preserving both relationships and the businesses they have worked hard to build.
At Yadaba Communications, we believe every important initiative deserves communication that is clear, credible and meaningful. Whether it is a national workshop, a corporate programme or a stakeholder engagement event, our role is to help important messages reach the right audience—and leave a lasting impact.
