People from different organisations rarely gather simply to compare notes. They come with different mandates, funding priorities and programmes. Yet around the table at IFC’s ESG Roundtable, the discussion kept returning to the same question: how can development partners work more closely so their efforts reinforce one another instead of running side by side?

That thinking shaped the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) ESG Roundtable for Development Partners, which gathered representatives from development institutions, financial sector partners and sustainability experts to explore how environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts can be better aligned across Ghana.
The discussions moved beyond broad commitments. Participants exchanged lessons from existing programmes, examined where projects overlap and identified opportunities to coordinate rather than duplicate efforts. A recurring message was that ESG is no longer viewed as an optional consideration. Businesses are increasingly expected to manage environmental and social risks with the same discipline they apply to financial performance, making good governance a practical business necessity rather than a compliance exercise.

Speakers also reflected on the progress Ghana has made in sustainable finance, particularly through regulatory reforms and partnerships that continue to strengthen environmental and social risk management within the financial sector. The conversation acknowledged that lasting progress depends on institutions learning from one another and building on what already exists instead of working in isolation.

Yadaba Communications supported the roundtable by providing communications and public relations services that helped document the discussions, shape clear messaging and engage the media around the significance of the event. The focus was not simply on reporting what happened but on ensuring the wider business community understood why stronger collaboration on ESG matters for investment, resilience and long-term private sector growth.
One lesson stood out long after the discussions ended: sustainable development is rarely the result of one organisation working alone. It grows from consistent partnerships, open dialogue and a willingness to share knowledge for a common purpose. Those conversations may not always make headlines, but they often lay the groundwork for lasting change.

Every important event deserves communication that connects with the right audience. If you’re planning a conference, campaign, corporate event or stakeholder engagement, Yadaba Communications is ready to help you tell your story.
